Walmart is able to moves good from their distribution centres to store shelves because Walmart maintains in-house logistics’ utilizing their own private fleet of trucks and skilled truck drivers. Walmart clocks over 1,126,540,800 billion kilometers, each driver averages 160,934 kilometers annually.
The Walmart logistic hubs map out the most efficient routes for their drivers, and work to minimize the number of “empty kilometers” they drive and to monitor the entire shipping process. This way, Walmart can use less fuel, drive fewer kilometers and maximize the merchandise being delivered –while minimizing their carbon foot print.

“What it’s really going to allow us to do, by having this in-house as part of Walmart, is to take the best practices these two great companies have already helped us master and share those with the rest of our international operation and make it easier for us to take best practices from our international operations around the world and bring them into Canada. By bringing them in-house, it just makes this process easier to do.”
